Geekcubed is Ian Stapleton …
and I am a freelance web developer, software engineer, consultant and all-round “IT Guy” from Nottingham, UK.
After accidentally falling into the world of web development over ten years ago I’ve stuck with it and made a career from it. The best thing is that I still find it as interesting and motivating today as I did when I first started.
My real passion for website development generally follows one of a few main veins:
- I love the challenge of making a “square peg fit into a round hole” – taking two completely alien systems and getting them to work in harmony for a seamless experience for the end user
- I find the concept of “value added” extremely compelling – exposing existing systems to an new audience and allowing new users to find reward from using existing systems in a new way
- Finally, giving end users a desire to return to a website is a very strong driver to strive to deliver new, imaginative and high quality solutions – be it entirely new applications or extensions to existing products
geekcubed: the name, the site
Geekcubed has been my “brand” for over five years – starting off as simply a dumping ground for hosting files and projects, the domain now serves as a portfolio of my work and my personal home on the web. The site has undergone several evolutions over the last few years – slowly but surely refining the identify of Geekcubed. The site itself is currently powered by Wordpress, with a bespoke theme and a handful of plug-ins sprinkled on top.
