Hay Group are a leading global HR / management consultancy firm with clients ranging from small and medium sized businesses up to large multinationals such as Vodafone. Any company aiming to serve the needs of another large organisation often needs specialist tools to manage the relationship – in this instance Hay Group required a CRM tool to allow their client to schedule, action and report on the services they provide.
As the technical lead of the project, I was involved from the initial meetings with the client through to completion, overseeing three other developers during the delivery of the software. During the scoping phase, it became apparent that whilst the client was happy to flexible on the approach and fine details, they had a very clear set of features they needed implementing.
I personally took on the task of modifying the User Access Control system within Sugar – adding the ability to group users via hierarchical business units and for those business units to affect ownership and access of all data entities / records within Sugar. I also extended the process of managing user accounts within SugarCRM to make it more user friendly – adding the ability to recover lost passwords and for details of new accounts to be emailed out to the users’ registered email address.
On top of these changes, the team as a whole implemented a custom data model within Sugar, with the development of new modules featuring extensive “work flow” operations. Finally we layered on a bespoke theme for SugarCRM, drastically changing the standard interface deliver a polished end product.
Overall, the project was delivered, feature complete, on-time and on budget. Feedback from both client parties has been wholly positive.
